Mice, roaches as well as bats were sighted at some schools within the Dandenong district area.

“At one institution we’d have got thousands of bats within property,” suggests Mr Smith, principle assistant. “On day 1 of school, we’d unlock the doors and the bats would come flying outside. They’d been roosting inside of the premises since it was established, and that we had learned to live along with it.”

Upon a monthly basis, a qualified pest management reputable company sprayed pesticide in almost every premises - before the college or university got wind of a potential integrated pest management program. This unique practical sense method of handling pests is targeted on learning and technical controls and applies minute pesticide sprays.

“Our very own director believed pest control management technique was a healthier strategy for our college students along with the custodial team involved,” says Smith. “Since The year 2010, we’ve had 31 particular pesticide solutions - down from 34 per month. In which reduced our pesticide implementation by about 86 percent.”

A year ago, the bat-plagued high school noted only 2-3 pesty bats in the building. And the other faculty prior to this overrun with pesty mices claimed just five within the last semester. Furthermore, the location has managed to saved $14,000 each year by monitoring, inspecting and ensuring to report any pest issues|issues|dilemmas|matters|problem|issue} internally.

In accordance with Mr Smith, the pest control program is one of many district’s most legitimate green projects. They were rewarded Pest Management star prize three times and have was given nationwide, and also state recognition. As well, pest handling process has spread to 5 other colleges which have carried out their own personal systems throughout the Dandenong area community.

As well as its pest handle process, the district has acquired green cleaning that favours peroxide-based cleaning treatments, foaming spray products heads to reduce the possibility of aspirating substances, and nitrile gloves in place of rubber to minimize allergies.

“I refer to it cleansing for wellbeing, because that’s precisely what we’re doing,” suggests Mr Smith. “We are creating a far healthier environment for absolutely everyone around the centre.” -
